What defines an economic marital partnership before marriage?

The Act does not define economic partnership; however, it may be shown to have existed when the parties have lived together, shared rent and household expenses, owned property together, or were otherwise financially interdependent in some way. The spouse will have the burden of proof when seeking to extend the length of the marriage in this manner.
