If I am in a long-term cohabitating relationship that began prior to the passage of the Massachusetts Alimony Reform Act can my alimony award be modified?

Under the Massachusetts Alimony Reform Act alimony can be suspended, reduced or terminated upon the cohabitation of the recipient spouse with another person for a continuous period of at least three months. However, it is only a basis for modification in divorces occurring after the effective date of the Alimony Reform Act, March 1, 2012.
